Log at a glance

Log as of Sep 28, 2026 Revision D accepted for quoting Bore tolerance question open 9 days

Every open specification question on the six active Tarrow RFQs, each tied to the drawing revision it was asked on and to the person who owes the answer. Prepared by the Keelson quoting engineer for the Tarrow design engineer, Ingrid Solheim, director of purchasing at Tarrow Pump Systems, and the Keelson manufacturing engineer. Tarrow emailed housing drawing revision D to a Keelson salesperson on Sep 24 while engineering was still quoting revision C. Rosalind Chau, vice president of engineering at Keelson Precision Manufacturing, decided that revision D is the accepted revision for quoting, and Benedict Oyelaran, commercial operations manager, superseded the three open revision C questions.

Open questions

Seven questions are open. Four wait for a Keelson engineering response and three wait for a Tarrow decision. Days open are counted to Sep 28. The three revision C questions are marked superseded and have been asked again on revision D; each keeps the age of the original so the wait stays visible. The three keep the state Customer decision until Tarrow answers on revision D.

Bore tolerance question on housing revision C: 9 days

The bore tolerance question on RFQ 5102 is the oldest open question on the log. It was asked on housing drawing revision C on Sep 19, and the drawing shows one tolerance in the bore callout and another in the title block. Owner: Benedict Oyelaran routes it, and Ingrid Solheim owes the decision. Consequence: until Tarrow decides, the RFQ 5102 quote cannot take a bore tolerance, so the housing quote is not built. Revision D is now the accepted revision, so the question is asked again against revision D. Ask: Ingrid Solheim gives the bore tolerance decision against revision D by Oct 8.

Questions by RFQ and state

Each bar is one active RFQ. The three colors are the three states a question can be in today. RFQ 5102 holds the most questions, 6 of the 22, and the only RFQ with both an engineering response and a customer decision outstanding.

The counts on the block are the Sep 28 counts. The three questions waiting for a customer decision are the revision C questions that were superseded and asked again on revision D, so they stay in that column until Tarrow answers.

Questions per week

Questions are logged when an engineer or a buyer raises them, not when they are answered. The peak was 5 in the week of Aug 31. The last full week, Sep 21, logged 3.

Across the six weeks the log holds 22 questions, which matches the count by RFQ above. A rising line after the revision change would mean the new drawing raised new questions.

Incorporated so far

Fifteen of the 22 questions are incorporated: answered, accepted by Tarrow and built into the quote inputs for their RFQ. Four wait for engineering and three wait for Tarrow.

Revision control

Details
Accepted revision for quotingHousing drawings revision D. Revision C is superseded and no new quote is built on it.
Revision on every questionEach question is logged with the revision letter it was asked on. A question without a revision letter is returned to its sender.
Who accepts a revisionRosalind Chau, vice president of engineering. A drawing emailed to a salesperson is logged at once, but it does not become the accepted revision until she accepts it.
Answers belong to one revisionAn answer applies only to the revision it was given on. When the revision changes, the question is superseded and asked again on the new revision.
States on the logQuestion raised, engineering response, customer decision, incorporated, superseded.
Customer decisionsTarrow makes the requirement clarification. Keelson records it and does not choose between two readings of a drawing.

Every answer on this log belongs to one drawing revision. If the revision changes, the answer is asked again, and nobody builds a quote on the old one.

From question to incorporated

The path of one question is below. The messages run for every question. The note at the bottom applies only when the revision changes while a question is open, as it did on the three revision C questions.

✓Question logged with its revision
✓Engineering response
Decision requested against that revision
Marked incorporated
If the revision changes
  • Question logged with its revision: Keelson quoting engineer
  • Engineering response: What Keelson can hold
  • Decision requested against that revision: Ingrid Solheim, with the Tarrow design engineer
  • Marked incorporated: Quote inputs updated
  • If the revision changes: Marked superseded and asked again on the new revision

Closing the bore tolerance question

The bore tolerance question on RFQ 5102 shows how a question closes. The marks below are as of Sep 28.

✓Question raised on housing revision C, Sep 19
✓Keelson manufacturing engineer states the bore tolerance Keelson can hold
✓Revision D accepted for quoting, revision C question superseded
Ingrid Solheim gives the decision against revision D, due Oct 8
